After the Florentine success last April, Gianmaria Potenza will be back in his Venice for another important event.
On Thursday 4th October 2018 at 6.00 pm, the new monographic volume “Gianmaria Potenza, Unknown Alphabets and Symbolic Languages”, curated by Laura Villani and published by Editoriale Giorgio Mondadori, will be presented to the press and to the Venetian public at the prestigious Ateneo Veneto.
The curator Laura Villani will speak together with Cristina Acidini, President of the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno in Florence; Cesare De Michelis, President of Marsilio Editore, Marino Folin and Carlo Motta, Head of Cairo Publishing Illustrated Books.
The volume, in Italian / English bilingual edition, illustrates the work of the Master through a collection of precious details, which draws from the vast repertoire of techniques and materials used in recent decades by the artist and that explores the signs and symbols that make unique and unmistakable works by Gianmaria Potenza. It also traces the fundamental stages of his artistic career: from the beginnings at the Istituto d’Arte in Venice to the first exhibitions at the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation and at the Venice Biennale; from the great public and private commissions, thanks to which Potenza, very young, experimented with the most disparate techniques and materials maturing its own language, at the exhibitions that brought him to international prominence.
