Thursday, October 4, 2018, at 18.00 in the Aula Magna of the Ateneo Veneto will be presented the monograph about the Venetian sculptor entitled “Gianmaria Potenza, Unknown Alphabets and Symbolic Languages”.
The volume, curated by Laura Villani and published by Editoriale Giorgio Mondadori, in an Italian / English bilingual edition, illustrates Potenza’s work through an interpretation of the theme chosen by the Curator. A collection of precious details, which draws from the vast repertoire of techniques and materials used in recent decades by the artist, explores the signs and symbols that make the works of Gianmaria Potenza unique and unmistakable. It also traces the fundamental stages of his artistic career, from the beginnings at the Art Institute of Venice to the first exhibitions at the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation and then at the Biennale, to the successes of the following years, through a rich selection of images from the Potenza Studio archive.
Cristina Acidini, President of the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno in Florence; Enzo Bianchi, Founder of the Community of Bose; Cesare de Michelis, President of Marsilio Editori and Enzo Santese, critic and poet, all of them have contributed with their texts introducing the reader to the art of Potenza. The book closes with an interview by Marino Folin, ex-Rector IUAV, with some curiosity face to-face with the artist.
Laura Villani, Cristina Acidini, Enzo Bianchi (on recorded video), Marino Folin, Enzo Santese and Carlo Motta will attend the presentation.
During the evening will be commemorated prof. Cesare De Michelis recently passed away, and we want to give thanks for his precious contribution to the book.
