IN MURANO A SOLO EXHIBITION DEDICATED TO THE FOUNDER OF LA MURRINA

The solo-exhibition Gianmaria Potenza, l’arte nella bellezza del vetro – omaggio al fondatore della vetreria ‘la murrina’ inaugurates on December 7, 2016 in the magnificent Murano palace Palazzo da Mula. The exhibition, curated by Rina Dal Canton and strongly supported by the Municipality of Venice, is part of the program of the Palazzo Aperto Festival and of the Le Città in Festa event.

L’arte nella bellezza del vetro pays tribute to the creativity and marked resourcefulness of the famous Venetian artist, who in less than a decade has managed to radically innovate Murano stylistic landscape. At Palazzo da Mula, some pieces of objects and lighting were designed by the artist and by designers and architects who collaborated with Potenza. For the exhibition, it has also played an important graphic work in the exhibition panels, which illustrate rare images of original catalogues of La Murrina, now unavailable.

The exhibition will be an opportunity to deepen an important part of the history of the glassworks of which we now know little or nothing, through an exhibition that illustrates how La Murrina was founded, which news was brought, and who were its protagonists. Above all, it celebrates the great work done by Potenza as founder, director and glass artist, who has been able to give fame to the La Murrina brand and a strong stylistic imprint, recognized around the world.

The art show therefore is part of the program of the celebrations for the master’s eightieth birthday. After Gianmaria Potenza, l’arte nella bellezza del vetro – omaggio al fondatore della vetreria ‘la murrina’, the 2017 promises to the Venetian artist a rich year of other important events, which will end in spring with a big retrospective in his Venice, coinciding with the 57th Biennale of Art.

The exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Venice and the Paolo Rizzi Cultural Association. It is also supported by Bisol and Cimalu ART.
