Velieri cop

Velieri

“I Velieri” (1964) is a masterpiece that exemplifies Potenza’s work from that period, created using pyrography on wood with gold leaf. Commissioned by Banco di Roma for its Bari branch, the piece was designed to evoke the sea. The bank had engaged the artist to produce large-scale works for its branches worldwide, each reflecting symbolic elements that captured the essence of its location.

After the space was repurposed, the collection was acquired by a private collector committed to preserving it while ensuring public access. Since 2019, I Velieri has been on a long-term loan and displayed at Spazio Thetis in Venice.
