Potenza’s Ark

Potenza’s Ark is the name chosen by the artist for the series of bronze animals sculptures made from 2008. Ironically this ideal “Ark” perhaps reveals a playful unconscious desire or an allegorical representation of the patriarch Noah who wants to save with animals the part still intact and reassuring of a sick society, often perverse. Carefully investigated both morphologically and in terms of affective coexistence or conflict with humans, the subjects are shaped by geometric volumes of stout stability bronze, where the facets as well as the decorative processing are part of the unmistakable world that Gianmaria Potenza, his imagination, can create.
